One of the greatest keys to a good job search is knowing the goal. It is one thing to start putting your resume everywhere where it will stick. But what is the goal? I always ask clients for clarification so that we are not spinning our wheels. The dynamics of the type of job and the why’s of that particular job. They have to have their minds set and ready for action. Their marketing and networking depends on it.
The goal drives the design of the initial resume and the marketing strategy. I have seen resumes that speak nothing to the heart desire of the client. The structure and the ‘wording’ should be reflective of where this resume is going, who it’s suppose to attract and what it says about the client. If these are created with the most specific intention, the momentum will increase and the outcomes are more consistent. There is just something about congruence that make for a powerful impact.
If you are not getting calls based on your resume, then review, revise and revisit! Review your resume for clarity/congruence. Revise your resume where. Revisit previous employers, reintroduce yourself by sending them the ‘updated’ version of your resume.
